32 in 32: #2

Hi friends! Thanks for the great response to 32 in 32. Today, I’m excited to share #2 on my list. You may have read yesterday that I purchased flowers the other night. I walked into our local Trader Joe’s for the first time and was stopped in my tracks by how gorgeous and colorful their spring bouquets looked. I stopped to smell them of course, and look around, deciding which one to grab. I knew just who I wanted to give it to. Again, just by putting them in my cart, I felt so rejuvenated after my otherwise blah day that I felt like I was buying them for myself to enjoy.

I brought them home and the yesterday morning, tied a ribbon around them, and placed them along with a card and some invitations to be picked up in the basket outside the studio door.

(Of course, Bert had to inspect them before they delivered. Terrific quality control here at SPC.)

The flowers were for my amazing and talented, spirited and spunky friend, Bridget Crissey of Pink Ink Scripts. Bridget and I are working on an exciting new collaboration and I just wanted to thank her for being such a bright light and positive spirit in my life! She’s fabulous to work with and we’ve had such fun working on custom calligraphy invitation suites together. (Check her out here). I know she loved the flowers as she posted them on her Instagram and called me right after.

Flowers are such a gorgeous and easy way to add color to someone’s day. Thankful for Trader Joe’s having some great ones. Luckily it’s Spring and you can’t turn around without seeing some beauts.

I put a card with the flowers but have made this printable of the card below for future good deeds. This will be great for leaving extra money in a meter for someone, or taping a dollar to a vending machine. Enjoy!

Howdy, friends! So, I just celebrated a birthday last week, turning the big 3-2! I have always loved birthdays and am so thankful to have a childhood full of happy memories of May 2nd. My parents always decorated the kitchen for my brother and I to wake up to celebratory birthday balloons, treats, and decorations on our birthday. It was so special! Here in my 30s now, I still feel so grateful to celebrate each year. I’m happy, healthy (most important!) and loving life! The other night, I read through my friend Melissa’s blog, where she started a series called “40 before 40″ where she does 40 good deeds before her 40th birthday. I read all of her entries in one sitting. It was so inspiring that I decided to launch my own personal project, appropriately-named 32 in 32. I’m so excited for the opportunity to think of unique but simple ways to make someone smile. Even just the idea of it makes me excited!

DoingGoodFeelsGood

I had a not-so-perfect-you’ll-Facebook-about-it kind of day yesterday (although of course it all seems like water under the bridge today). Last night, I bought a bouquet of flowers for someone special (you’ll see who tomorrow) and just PURCHASING the flowers, not even giving them away yet, made me feel better. Y’all, it’s true…

MakingOthersHappy

I’m excited to share my journey with y’all and would love to know if any of you have done something similar (or even received a nice gesture from someone else). It’s amazing how just one person can impact another. And if you want to join along, I have some ideas on my pinterest board, and will add photos and posts as I go along.

Now…for #1!

My kickoff “good deed” is one I am super excited about! Because my birthday was the start of this idea, I am sharing the joy I felt on my birthday with others for theirs. The Birthday Party Project is an organization near and dear to my heart (read about it here), and started by my amazing friend Paige.

TBPP, for short, throws birthday parties for homeless kids. Amazing, right?! I feel so lucky to have felt joy on all 32 of my birthdays and just giving the opportunity for some kids to experience that for the first time is a big big big gift. So, for everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday on Facebook, I’m donating money to TBPP. And, that was a whopping 191 friends, so there you go! Excited to make a difference and make some very deserving birthday kiddos smile, like these two!

TBPP

Okay, I am fired up! Excited for 32 in 32! Tomorrow, I will be sharing a new story and free printables for 32 in 32.

Cheers, Jill

Stamped Celebrations: Robert Turns Seven-tee

Happy Monday, friends! Today we are excited to share the fun paper goods we designed for Robert’s 70th birthday party…or “par-tee” for that matter. We worked with Robert’s spunky, fun wife, Kathy, and event planner Paige Chenault to create a fun invitation that felt very “Robert” to invite his friends and family to celebrate his milestone birthday. We almost facetiously showed the sassy invitation wording choice, but once Kathy saw it, she said, “Go with that! It’s so him.” (Our favorite thing to hear!)

StampedPaperCoGolfParty2

Friends and family traveled in from all over the country, and we knew we had to make the party come alive with surprises. Each guest received a custom “score card” and golf pencil to write a birthday note to Robert. Custom cocktail napkins kept our “little birdie…” theme going, and on the dance floor, everyone got “fore eyes” with hilarious golf glasses. Finally, for party favors, chocolate golf balls were passed out, leaving everyone feeling like the party was a true “hole-in-one.”

Happy 70th Robert!

Making Things Happen for Stamped Paper Co!

Hello everyone! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, but I am happy to be back and more importantly, back with a new focus, energy and ideas for the Stamped blog. Hooray!

A few weeks ago, I attended the Making Things Happen conference in gorgeous North Carolina (where I also got to visit my dear friend Kellyn from K Bakes), and it was truly life-changing! The three women who lead the conference are three women I admire greatly, and their motivation, encouragement, and blogs played an immense role in my decision to leave my day job and focus on Stamped almost two years ago. I had been looking forward to attending the conference for a few years, and finally attending the one and only 2013 one was truly worth the wait.

It’s hard to describe what “Making Things Happen” can mean, but in short, it was a two-day intensive designed to encourage us to design our best life. I went in the hopes of finding clarity on where to next take the brand (I have a few big ideas!) and walked away with a more focused vision, even more pep in my step, and 99 other friends to encourage me as I also encourage them to…make it happen. Here’s the group photo from the conference! Can you find me?

What does that mean for y’all? It means lots more posts to see and read right here on the blog, a closer look into a lot of the fun projects we’ve been working on, more inspiration to hopefully fire you up to celebrate even more, and a chance to get to better know me and the ladies behind SPC. And…in case you didn’t notice, this also starts with a little makeover we gave the blog to add a little more color and accessibility. Thanks to Robyn at The Blog Boat for the design.

I am so excited for what’s next and graciously invite you to stay and enjoy the party.

Until next time, have a great weekend! I’m overjoyed to attend TWO weddings this weekend of our amazing SPC couples, my nephew’s 6th (!!!) birthday party, and treat Allison to coffee as a small thank you for taking the new photo for the Stamped homepage (complete with our new “tagline.”) Be sure to follow me on instagram if you want to keep up!

XOXO, Jill

Stamped Loves Letting The Good Times Roll

Happy Fat Tuesday, everyone! If there’s a holiday we love around here (see: all of them), it’s Mardi Gras! We absolutely love everything about the South, and New Orleans is of course, at the heart and soul of it. We have had the privilege of working with quite a few NOLA brides, including one who is tying the knot this weekend, and let me tell you, there is some soul that goes into these weddings! From the first moment of getting caught up in the spirit of the city, the second line, the vibrant colors, the brass bands, and of course, the food and drinks, there’s more than just love in the air in New Orleans…it goes skin deep.

Our invitation suite for Amelia and Michael’s wedding was printed on metallic papers and used a rich and vibrant color palette and a red enclosure. It matched the colors and even the sunset their gorgeous venue provided. Doesn’t hurt they are the most adorable couple, either!

The extras we created for the wedding kept the same deep colors and ornate details. We love adding custom cake pull signs to our NOLA weddings. Do you know the tradition? It’s so fun to watch the girls pull their charms!

My fellow partygoers Lynn and Chad and I brought our own masks to the party. They were a hit on the dance floor. The bride took some photo booth props and lived it up with us.

This weekend, our dear friends Emily and Jim are celebrating their wedding. Here’s the suite we designed for them, complete with a welcome guide to the city.

I am packing my beads but have no doubt I’ll be able to reach up and grab a few still hanging in the trees from Mardi Gras.

(Holding up a hurricane) and toasting “Cheers!” to you and yours on this Fat Tuesday!

Stamped Celebrations: Catherine & Ben

Good Monday Morning, Friends! We are back from a wedding weekend in San Diego (gorgeous!) and excited to share another Stamped Celebration with you, this time featuring Catherine and Ben’s gorgeous southern summer brunch wedding. The first time I met Catherine and Ben, I was struck by their sincere southern charm. Catherine is a true southern belle, in the best version of that, with a warm, inviting house, kitchen exuding homemade fragrance, and even a sweet accent to boot. I knew she and Ben would have a down-to-earth and classy, heart-warming wedding. When they mentioned they were having a morning ceremony and a creative brunch menu to follow, I knew this would stand out, just like this fun couple. One of my favorite parts of creating the paper goods for Catherine and Ben’s wedding was working with a dear family friend of Catherine, Wanda Hanszen. Wanda calligraphied her daughter’s wedding invitations years ago, and Catherine knew as a young girl she’d always want Wanda to write out her own invitation. Wanda lives in Catherine’s hometown of Carthage, Texas, where I swear, everyone is related to Paula Deen in sweetness and sugar. We started with a save the date using coral and cream with hints of navy to pick up on the colors from their adorable engagement photos.

Check out their entire shoot here from ee photography. (Quick aside: Erin Woolsey is a great photographer! She has loads of great engagement shoots featuring unique locations and lots of cute sessions with couples holding various signs. We love those for engagement shoots!) The save the date featured some of Wanda’s unique handwriting, which we then used fully on the invitation suite, which we letterpressed in a warm grey on heavy lettra paper.

Catherine and Ben’s program utilized more of Wanda’s handwriting and was accented with a coral ribbon. We jazzed up the festivities with coral straws (love) and some custom napkins in gold, cream, and coral using C+B’s new monogram.

We just adore the color palette, Catherine’s dress, Ben’s loving gaze, and all of the soft details. We love the creative menu from The Mansion on Turtle Creek. Branching Out created the amazing floral design. Paige Chenault Events pulled it all together flawlessly.

Check out the flowers and design of the guestbook table. To die for, right?!   We adored working with Catherine and Ben (and Catherine’s cat-loving mama as well) and are thrilled to be creating some holiday greetings for them, too. It’s just the beginning! Check out the rest of the gorgeous photos here.

Cheers! SPC

A Great Way To Start The Week

Howdy, friends! I have decided to start a new beginning of the week tradition and thought you might, too. Even though I design loads of thank you notes, sometimes it’s hard to remember to actually write them (even when they are super cute)! So, Monday mornings, I’ve started to write at least one thank you note, or hand-written hello, congrats, I miss you, I love you, Happy Birthday, or I’m Proud Of You note to someone special. It’s amazing how far one stamp can go to make someone’s day. Starting the week by taking time to appreciate someone in your life is a great way to kick things off with a smile and some gratitude. And it’s funny how easy writing number 2 and 3 come after you start with 1.

Need some notes to get you started? Let us know!

Oh, and a fun pen or pencil and stamps make it that much easier. ;)

Happy Stamping!

A Shining Light: Melissa Darst Photography

Hello, everyone! Hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend! It’s with great joy that I share the new look of Melissa Darst Photography! Melissa is not only a shining light in my life, but such an incredibly talented photographer who literally radiates light from her heart into all of her photo shoots, parties, and more.

We love working on parties together with Melissa, and custom Christmas cards for her own family and clients are some of my favorite projects of the year. Melissa came up with the idea of “Shine Your Light” as the inspiration for her rebrand and together we worked on the new look and feel for her website and blog. Bold and bright colors of aqua, flame yellow, and hot pink come together to emphasize her coloful and vivid clients. Be sure to check out her Shine Your Light video created with Elle Films to learn all about Melissa and her incredible style and vision.

Shine Your Light, Melissa!
